Patrick Smith
The following photographs have been taken by the photographer, Patrick Smith displaying the beautiful oceanside views in Southern California. Patrick Smith is a computer programmer and he lives in San Francisco, but travels up and down the California coast to take pictures. His photography has been displayed in various magazines and calendars and two of his photos have taken part in Nature’s Best Magazine contest. Also, his photos have been viewed over 100 billion times.
Oceanside views are Smith’s main passion in photography, but he also does other types of landscape photography. Typically, to prepare for a shoot, Smith first studies the weather conditions, weather charts, tides, and seasons in order to find the best time to do a shoot. Smith also studies how quickly and in which direction clouds travel in order to take his wide-angle photography under the best lighting conditions. He does all of this because he wants to get that perfect shot when the sun is setting and the sky is clear and colorful. Once, Smith finds the ideal time to do a photoshoot, he then drives all the way from San Francisco to the beautiful Southern California oceans and finds the best spot to get a wide view that can showcase the entire scene he is trying to capture. He drove up to 50 miles to visit the locations in which he took the photographs displayed in this gallery. Smith pays attention to all these details because he feels strongly about taking photographs that showcase the beauty of nature without any sort of photoshop or digital enhancing method.
Smith does all of this because he looks for the natural beauty that will inspire people to protect and save our precious natural landscape and seascape. His inspiration is to encourage people to preserve nature for future generations. Patrick Smith is key in keeping people out of his photographs because he wants the viewers to feel as if he or she is the only one living in that peaceful moment. Smith is known for his photography style of having the ideal balance between color, contrast, and shadow that highlights the oceanside scenery he is trying to capture. He does this to incorporate both clarity and vibrancy into his photographs. Smith is able to achieve this without editing his photos because he wants the person viewing his photography to feel as if they are experiencing that exact same moment.
These photos fit into this gallery because they were taken in Southern California and they showcase the natural scenery of the numerous oceanside views in Southern California. Patrick Smith not only sees photography as a hobby, but as an ideal way to inspire everyone to protect nature and both our sea and landscapes. He also hopes that his photography inspires other photographers to also try to capture the beauty of nature, so his message of inspiring everyone to protect our planet can reach out to even more people. Overall, Patrick Smith wants each photograph to be a work of art and not just a straight photograph.
