His work fits into our gallery because urban, man-made environments are just as much a part of the scenery and landscape of an area as the nature surrounding it. These specific photos were chosen because they all express how overlooked urban scenery is. One would not consider the above image a landscape because it is something we see every day and think nothing of. Trey impressively shows how stunning the environment around us is by showing how our urban landscapes mend with our natural settings to produce amazing views. Different colored lights piercing the background of a clear night sky subtly transitioning from yellow to blue to black. The lights of houses in the Hollywood hills dotting the landscape like stars in the sky which contrast very well with each other. It sets itself apart from other works by presenting the glamour of city/suburban lighting on a clear sky when others display the opposite and photograph a desolate landscape laying under a sky full of twinkling stars.

Trey Ratcliff's photography has no real boundaries and he doesn't really focus on one particular theme. His favorite aspect of photography is HDR photography or High Dynamic Range Imaging. High-Dynamic-Range Imaging is a high dynamic range technique used in imaging and photography to reproduce a greater dynamic range of luminosity than what is possible with standard digital imaging or photographic techniques. In this sense, Trey tends to lean towards shots that fully encapsulate the big picture so to speak. He likes to highlight areas of our daily lives that may be overlooked since you cannot truly appreciate his vision without the right tools such as a very expensive camera or expensive editing programs. With this in mind, Trey surprisingly does not edit his photos all that much besides tweaking the lighting or shadows in certain parts that need it in hopes of not losing the natural beauty he sought to capture in the first place. Trey's work really shines through his efforts to showcase the splendor of modern urban landscapes. As shown on this page he enjoys photographing everything from a hallway in his friend's home to a jaw-dropping shot of a lit-up downtown Los Angeles.
